Broadway Is My Beat ReviewCanadian Larry Thor starred in one of America's finest straightforward detective series on radio, Broadway is My Beat. He was Danny Clover, a N.Y.P.D. detective whose beat was Broadway. The show was noted for its hard-boiled stories and realistic sounds, giving the listener a feeling of being there in that lonely and lit up mile of New York which could be ritzy or gaudy and violent.
Producer and director Frank Remley was perhaps most famous for portraying the often soused drummer in Phil Harris' band on The Jack Benny Show. By keeping things focused on the stories and the location, he turned the show into something truly special in the genre. The show's musical director, Alexander Courage, would become famous for composing the music for a little television show called Star Trek a bit later in his career.
