Instant Emotional Healing: Acupressure for the Emotions ReviewI have found this book to be exceedingly helpful for many daily problems such as stress, anxiety, and procrastination. It is hard to believe that the simple protocols given in the book can result in such quick and complete relief, but they do. I have a hard science background (biochemistry) and do not give much creedence to fads and new age cures. After reading and trying the methods presented in "Instant Emotional Healing", I wish that I had found out about this field long ago. I have tried some of the protocols on friends with the same result. The book is well written and presented. All of the techniques presented are well documented and contain easy to understand illustrations. The book also contains a complete bibliography with references to research on which the book is based, as well as a glossary and a list of resources. Another nice feature is that book owners can access the author's "members" webpage. I highly recomend this book!Instant Emotional Healing: Acupressure for the Emotions Overview

Color Me Butterfly: A Novel Inspired by One Family's Journey from Tragedy to Triumph Review"Color Me Butterfly" chronicles the lives of 4 generations of women who have been impacted by physical, sexual, emotional and economic abuse by the men they hoped would love them. Based on her own experience and those of her mother and grandmother, the author describes in brutal detail the dynamics and personalities of both the victim and the perpetrator. This kind of behavior is neither inherent nor genetic, but comes as a result of being personally denigrated or witnessing the abasement of other people. Rooted in the unconscious and nurtured by denial, silence and shame, the rage and sense of inadequacy simmers unrecognized until something triggers its appearance. Ms. Marlow tells her story in a way that is both poetic, factual and fairly non-judgmental, allowing the characters to convey their own understanding. Although it ended on a somewhat hopeful note, it is discouraging to see the huge barriers facing women in this situation ~ barriers that are cultural, emotional, financial and legal. Abusive relationships are present in all socio-economic, religious and ethnic groups and despite a vast improvement in awareness and intervention, show little sign of fading. Much more work needs to be done to help women to understand their own needs, redefine what it means to "love", to be family and to "be a father" and to recognize the signs of potential abuse before they are in too deeply to escape. Circumstances were implied, but I would have liked to know more about the family history of the men as well as the lives of Eloise's other children. Get Yours: How to Have Everything You Ever Dreamed of and More ReviewI read this book because my girlfriend was reading it (not usually the kind of book I would seek out, a self-help book for women), but once I started into it, i could not put it down. I secretly kept reading it without my girlfriend's knowledge, putting another book jacket over it, so when out in public people would not wonder why I was so intently reading this book! But now that I have finished it and been quite inspired by Ms. Barnett's story, experience and advice, I am no longer embarassed, rather, i am inspired enough to write a review. The very next day i noticed ways that the book had affected my outlook and some of the everyday choices one makes that affect the future.
