I therefore hate to criticise it too severely, but the truth is, it should not have been published. It is full of factual errors, and absurd assertions, that anyone with a reasonable knowledge of musicals will spot quickly.
The editorial standards for books about musicals seem to be extremely low. This is far from the first book on the topic to be riddled with errors.
