Murder on Broadway ReviewMurder On Broadway is a whodunnit type murder mystery in which the protagonist, Scott Jordan, is a lawyer, somewhat like Perry Mason, though he solves the case with investigation before it gets to court.
The star of a new Broadway play accidently kills a man in a bar fight. Scott Jordan, as an investor in the play and friend of the producer, takes the case. But it turns out the star has a lot of enemies, including the brother of the man he killed and a racketeer. Before he's even arraigned, the star is found dead in the apartment of Vickie Crane, Jordan's on and off girlfriend who's been helping keep the star out of trouble. The police suspect the brother of the first decedent, and Jordan defends him, suspecting the racketeer - but in the meantime a stockbroker, the boss of his client's late brother, asks Jordan to investigate Vickie's rich uncle in an unrelated matter, which couldn't have anything to do with the murder, or could it?
Personally, I didn't like it as much as Perry Mason; there's virtually no courtroom drama, but the protagonist is more personally involved in the investigating. Other readers might prefer it that way. However, there is a clever logical conclusion.Murder on Broadway Overview
